West Central Wheat Kings U18 experiencing highs and lows this season

West Central Wheat Kings U18 AA team has two games left before December's schedule begins

UNITY - Sitting at .500 in their first 10 games of the season, the West Central Wheat Kings are still experiencing highs and lows in the SAAHL.

October was a heavy schedule with 10 games played. November the injury bug has been a factor in some of the team’s struggles. Eight games comprise the November schedule, with three games played the weekend of Nov. 19-21. As of Nov. 22, the team has a tie, three losses and two wins with two more games on tap for Nov. 27 and 28. The team is hoping to earn some wins at home in these last games of the month.

Manager Marli Shepherd says, “We have had some affiliate players join us due to some injuries and suspensions. They seemed to fit in with our team quite well and we are grateful they could help us out."

Currently, the Wheat Kings sit middle of the pack in league standings behind the North West North Stars by only two points. Hunter Sperle and Austin Shepherd are the only Wheat Kings in the scoring leaders top 15 stats, with Sperle sitting at 15 goals in 15 games played, along with eight assists. Shepherd has 10 goals in 16 games played with 13 assists. Sperle sits at number eight in the Centre Four division scoring stats, with Shepherd just one spot behind him.
