Dorothy Alice Decksheimer 1930 – 2025

FOREVER AT PEACE

We are sad to say good-bye to our mother, Dorothy Alice (Mattson) Decksheimer. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2025 one day short of her 95th birthday.

She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Decksheimer. She was loved and will be missed by her children - Sandi, Randy (Brenda), Judy, Doug (Darla), Rod (Kathie), Scott (Kara) and 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy (or Alice, as she was known as a child) was born on the family farm where she grew up near Invermay, Saskatchewan and taught school at Isley School (one room schoolhouse) until she married Marvin in 1952 when they moved to Regina.

Dorothy was always a stay-at-home mother, who loved a clean house and puttering in her garden. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1969 where she remained for 45 years. Mom showed her remarkable strength, resilience and great faith after Dad's passing in 1978.

In 2015 she relocated to St David's House in Delta, BC, where she found a close friend in Kay Halkow. In 2023 she moved to Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre until her passing. Judy was a great comfort and help to Mom during her 10 years in BC, going above and beyond at every turn.

We were grateful to be able to celebrate Mom's 95th milestone birthday the day before her passing. We have wonderful memories of her last day, and especially her meeting the newest great grandchild, Dakota Watson.

Her faith in Jesus Christ kept her to the end and we take great comfort knowing she is forever at peace.

An interment service will be held at Sunset Cemetery, on 9 Ave SW, Moose Jaw (Bushell Park), SK on Monday July 7th, 11:30 am, with a lunch to follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 19 Paul Drive, Moose Jaw, SK where she attended while living in Moose Jaw.
