GAUDREAU
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blanche Gaudreau. Born in Gravelbourg, SK, on June 6th, 1948, and raised in Courval, Blanche passed away peacefully, at the time of her choosing, on September 25, 2024 while surrounded by several family members.
Predeceased by her beloved sons, Matthew and Benjamin Beard, her parents, Armand and Lea Gaudreau, her brothers Gerry, Louis, and Allan Gaudreau, her nephews Curtis Hannah, Cliff Andres and Jeffrey Gaudreau, and her good friend, Aileen Hall.
She leaves to mourn her brother Ray Gaudreau, her sister Dolly (Claude) Richard, and nephew Corey (Karen) Hannah (Cayla, Aiva, Adrian). Her niece Laura Hannah (Reanne, Jamie), sisters-in -laws Lea, Diana, Adeline, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Blanche’s warm and caring nature extended beyond her family. Her longtime friends, Liz Fox, Maxine Zachow, and Lucille Trembley, will remember her fondly for the laughter she brought to their lives.
Blanche was very proud of her advocacy work for the LGBTQ+ community whom she considered her extended family. In 1993 she organized the first ever local ‘pride’ event and coined the phrase “It's In to be Out in Moose Jaw”.
Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort, inspiration and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and loved.
Some of Blanche’s final words:
“When you think of me - Laugh lots - don’t cry. I’m at peace”
A celebration of Blanche's life will be held on Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Eagles Club, 561 Home Street West.
