Denis Hudon
April 11, 1980 to June 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Denis Hudon on June 2, 2025, at the age of 45. He passed away in Edmonton, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
Denis was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on April 11, 1980. From a young age, Denis was a very chatty and busy kid, always full of curiosity and energy. As he grew older, that busy energy shifted into a calm and thoughtful presence. He still loved visiting and talking with people, but he also became a great listener. He made others feel heard and valued.
Summers were often spent at the lake with family and extended family, something Denis always looked forward to. He especially loved going on fishing trips with his dad. The quiet, peaceful moments out on the water became some of his favourite memories.
Like many kids growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, Denis was a big fan of WWE and would enthusiastically try out the moves. Usually, his sisters were on the receiving end, even though they were not nearly as impressed as he was. It became a great family memory and one of the many ways he brought laughter into the house.
In his youth, he was also an avid swimmer and enjoyed practicing Judo for several years. These were activities he remembered fondly. Though Denis was quiet by nature, he was committed to the things he enjoyed and cared about deeply.
Family was incredibly important to Denis. Whether it was teasing his sisters or laughing with his nieces and nephews, his playful sense of humour always brought joy. Though his teasing was relentless, it was also deeply affectionate. Those who received it knew they were loved. His nieces and nephews adored him in return and never missed the chance to tease him back. Denis also cherished time with his aunts and uncles, always making an effort to visit them during family gatherings or when he returned home to Prince Albert.
Denis had a curious and adventurous spirit. He spent four years living and teaching English in China, where he made lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. Travel was something he loved, and last summer he was able to take a trip he had dreamed about for years to Japan with one of his closest friends, J.T. Dorion. He loved sharing every detail of that journey with those back home, showing photos and telling stories. Even while exploring the world, he remained thoughtful and brought back gifts for friends and family. It was a small gesture that showed how much he cared about the people in his life.
A true animal lover, Denis had a close bond with his dog Roxie, who adored him. He also had many creative hobbies, including painting and building miniature models, often crafting gifts for others. He had a way of noticing what people liked and giving the most thoughtful presents, always meaningful and personal. Denis also loved Lego, a hobby that started when he was young and stayed with him into adulthood. He had a fun and varied collection that reflected his interests and creativity. Some sets he built, and others he simply enjoyed holding onto and admiring. He was never bored. Denis had a wide range of interests that always kept him engaged, whether it was something creative, hands-on, or something new to learn. He was also the go-to person for anything technology-related. Whether it was deciding what to buy or troubleshooting a problem, he always seemed to have the answer. He had a natural knack for tech and was always happy to help. Denis was incredibly smart and seemed to know a little bit about everything. Whether it was science, history, space, or something random you’d never think to ask about, he always had something interesting to share.
Denis also had a deep love for science fiction and fantasy, which began at a young age. It was likely sparked by watching shows like Star Trek with his mom. That interest grew into a lifelong passion for reading and for movies and shows from those genres, including Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and many more. He loved getting into imaginative stories and was always excited to share his latest finds with others. He also enjoyed taking his telescope out to quiet places outside of town to look at the stars and planets. It was something he found relaxing and really enjoyed doing.
Denis got his first Nintendo when he was young, and that’s where his lifelong love of video games truly began. For Denis, gaming was more than just a pastime. It was how he stayed close to people, no matter where they were. He had regular gaming nights with his brother-in-law Jason, and together they formed a strong bond over shared laughs and late-night chats. Denis built many lasting relationships through those moments of laughter, competition, and conversation. He cherished all of the connections he made in this way.
Denis was the ultimate uncle, fun, generous, and completely devoted. He loved helping Elowen build her Minecraft world and teaching her how to play Nintendo. He proudly curated Mara’s Pokémon card collection. He made frequent visits, always finding time to be silly, and was always up for whatever brought his nieces and nephew joy.
He had lived in Moose Jaw for the past several years, where he studied Instrumentation and later worked at SaskTel. Denis made many great friends through work and school, and he cherished those connections deeply.
Denis will be remembered for his wit, generosity, adventurous heart, and the deep love he held for the people in his life. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and connection that will never be forgotten.
Denis is lovingly remembered by his mother Brenda Hudon, his sisters Janelle Hudon and Lauriane Hudon (Jason Dallman), his nieces Mara Hudon, Elowen Dallman, and Leone Dallman, and his nephew Remy Hudon. He is also survived by his godmother Shannon Ruszkowski, his godfather Bruno Hudon, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He is predeceased by his father, Ghislain (Gus) Hudon, his uncle Larry Taggart, and his grandparents Gaston and Rita Hudon, and Enid Taggart.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at the Regina Hospital and the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Edmonton for their care, compassion, and tireless efforts.
A graveside service will be held August 2nd, 2025 at 11:00am. At Memorial Gardens, Prince Albert, lunch to follow.
