Margaret “Peggy” Elsie

Margaret “Peggy” Elsie. September 29, 1946 - July 12, 2025. Peggy was born in Edmonton on September 29, 1946, but was raised in and around Unity, Saskatchewan. In 1966, Peggy married Wilfred Jackson. The inseparable couple began farming near Unity and soon had 2 children, Ken and Sandra. They farmed in Valleyview, Peers and Rocky Mountain House. Peggy loved watching sports, especially the Edmonton Oilers and Saskatchewan Roughriders. The TV remote got quite a workout if the Oilers were playing at the same time as a curling championship game. She could spend hours tending to her garden. Always being the first one to find the new potatoes and could shell peas for hours. She got a kick out of watching her grandsons when they were young hilling the potatoes with their Tonka Toys. Peggy loved to travel and “see” new things. A highlight was a trip to Hawaii with her family and walking in the waves. She talked about the bus trips with the Agriculture Society for years and always looked forward to the next one. She had an amazing memory for numbers and dates. She could rattle off anyone’s birthday, anniversary, or phone number. Peggy is survived by her daughter Sandra (Alan) and grandsons Justin and Nathan; her brother Ross and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred and son Ken. A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held for close family and friends. Memorial donations in Peggys’ name may be made to the West Country Family Services (Rocky Mountain House), the Compassionate Society (Rocky Mountain House) or a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca. Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements.
