Some behind the scenes changes at the NDP caucus were announced Monday, Feb. 27.

REGINA - Opposition Leader Carla Beck has announced the appointment of a new Chief of Staff to the Saskatchewan NDP caucus.

He is Warren McCall, a familiar name from provincial politics as the former longtime MLA for Regina Elphinstone-Centre. McCall will take over Feb. 28 and takes over from Katherine Norton, who has been in that position since Aug. 16, 2021 and had served in caucus from 2012.

McCall previously served as Minister of Advanced Education and Employment and Minister of Corrections and Public Safety in the cabinet of former Premier Lorne Calvert, as well as in opposition roles.

“I’m very excited to be announcing that Warren will be joining our team in the position of Chief of Staff,” said leader Beck in a statement. “Having worked in both opposition and government, Warren understands the opportunities and challenges ahead of us as we move forward to present a viable, common-sense alternative to this out-of-touch Sask. Party government.”

Beck added that McCall “has spent his career serving the people of Saskatchewan and I look forward to his perspective as we continue to build momentum and advocate for the issues that matter most to those who call this province home.”

Beck also thanked outgoing Chief of Staff Norton, saying in a statement “I cannot thank Katherine enough for her tireless dedication and leadership while serving in this role for the past 18 months. I know I speak for all of our caucus when I say that we are enormously grateful for her work and accomplishments on behalf of the people of Saskatchewan.”
