Heat warning issued for much of southern Saskatchewan

Temperatures are expected to hit 32-34 C on Aug. 19 and 20, and will feel warmer with the Humidex.

Heat warning issued for south Saskatchewan.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN — A heat warning has been issued for most of southern Saskatchewan.

According to Environment Canada, daytime highs for Aug. 19 and 20 are expected to be 32-34 C. With the Humidex, the projected temperature is expected to feel like 38-40 C each day. The overnight low for Aug. 19 is expected to be around 16 C.

"Cooler conditions are expected from Wednesday night [Aug. 20] into Thursday. Heat warnings will be updated as necessary," the agency said.

For some areas of the south, this marks the first heat warning of the year.

Communities in 110 RMs are affected, as are the cities of Regina and Moose Jaw.
