SASKATOON — Ryan Meili will be stepping down as the leader of Saskatchewan's official Opposition according to his announcement Friday morning.

He is reported to be serving as interim leader until a new leader can be chosen.

Meili was able to retain his leadership at the provincial NDP's annual convention this past October when 72 per cent of the delegates voted against having a leadership contest.

But Friday, he said he's decided to leave the position.
