SASKATCHEWAN — A province-wide outage is affecting SaskTel wireless cellular calling in Saskatchewan on Friday morning, preventing customers from making calls.

The disruption began around 8:45 a.m. and left many residents unable to place calls on their mobile devices.

"SaskTel is currently experiencing a province-wide service outage that is affecting both cellular network calls and Business Voice services. 9-1-1 emergency calls are not affected by the current outage," Crown corporation said in an alert issued shortly after 10 a.m.

SaskTel confirmed the problem and said crews had identified the issue. As of 10 a.m., work is underway to restore connectivity, with updates expected once more information becomes available.

As of mid-morning Friday, the outage was still active. Officials did not immediately provide a timeline for full restoration of service.
