REGINA - The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has lifted the provincial fire ban as of 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
The reason is due to improved conditions, with a weather system moving through Saskatchewan yesterday. SPSA says in a news release the provincial fire ban will be lifted on all Crown lands north of the provincial forest boundary to the Churchill River, along with the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.
However SPSA notes that provincial parks, municipalities and R.M.s could still have their own local fire ban, restriction or advisory in place. The full list of fire restrictions are at the SaskParks website and on the SPSA interactive fire ban map.
An interactive map of fire bans in the province, fire ban frequently asked questions, fire risk maps and fire prevention tips can all be found at saskpublicsafety.ca.
As of 10:30 a.m. yesterday 83 fires were burning in Saskatchewan. Of those 13 were not contained, six contained, 42 were ongoing assessment and 22 protecting values.
