Travel dicey on Sask. roads

Police are asking motorists to either delay travel or keep checking Highway Hotline; conditions expected to worsen.

SASKATCHEWAN – RCMP are asking people to take caution when hitting the roads over the next few days. From midnight to noon on Jan. 26, police across the province have received 43 reports of weather-related traffic issues. From collisions involving multiple vehicles to tractor trailer units finding themselves in the ditch, it’s been a wild day.

“Saskatchewan’s seen all the weather winter has to offer today: snow, freezing rain, rain and high winds,” said RCMP in a media release. “This mixed bag of weather has drastically impacted road conditions and visibility in some areas.”

We’re not out of the woods yet, as far as wild weather is concerned.

“Mother Nature has one further trick up here sleeve tonight: the temperature is expected to plummet,” said RCMP. “It is likely roads will continue to be icy through the night.”

Police are advising those panning on venturing out to check the Highway Hotline, or consider delaying travel if possible.
