REGINA - WestJet has announced this week it is stepping up the frequency of a number of flights out of Saskatoon and Regina this summer.

The routes that are seeing increased frequency include the following: Vancouver-Saskatoon, up from four times a week to seven times a week; Edmonton-Saskatoon and Edmonton-Regina up from six times a week to 14; and Winnipeg-Saskatoon up from seven times a week to 12 times a week.

WestJet is reporting a 64 per cent increase in seat capacity to/from Regina and 46 per cent increase in seat capacity to/from Saskatoon.

"Providing our guests with even more opportunity to travel across our network this summer comes as a result of a thoughtfully designed schedule that balances the high demand for travel alongside a reliable and resilient operation," said John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer in a statement. "With more seats available for booking and added capacity on popular routes, our summer schedule reflects a strengthened commitment to providing seamless domestic and transborder connectivity for our guests."

This latest announcement comes on the heels of WestJet’s recent announcement of two-times-a-week direct flights to Kelowna from Regina and a recent announcement of 5,000 more seats on the Regina-Calgary route.
