Regina man faces drug, weapons charges after police raid

REGINA – A 25-year-old man is facing 15 charges related to drug trafficking and firearms possession following an investigation by the Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU).

On May 20, two CDSA search warrants were executed. The first was at a business in the 100 block of Dewdney Avenue. Members of the RDU and the SWAT team conducted the search and seized 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2 ounces of cocaine, 1 ounce of pink cocaine (believed to mixture of cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine), $53,670.00 in Canadian currency, two 40 caliber handguns and ammunition, a rifle and ammunition, a shotgun and ammunition, other weapons and drug packaging, and mobile phones.

Later the same day the RDU and the SWAT Unit executed a second CDSA search warrant in relation to this investigation. The search of a home in the 2000 block of Wallace Street resulted in the seizure of approximately 2 kilograms of methamphetamine,  approximately .5 of a kilogram of fentanyl, 6 ounces of cocaine,  a quarter ounce of pink cocaine, a loaded, prohibited 9 mm handgun and ammunition, drug packaging, scales, mobile phones and other indicators of drug trafficking.

Mikhael Fernandez was charged with three counts of possession of drugs for purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime valued over $5,000, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, five counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and two counts of possession of a loaded or restricted firearm.

Fernandez made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on May 22.
