REGINA – A third person has been charged in an ongoing homicide investigation stemming from a fatal incident in mid-July.
On July 14, at about 8 p.m. Regina Police Service officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of 4th Ave. following a report of an injured person. When officers arrived, they located 53-year-old Brandon Cruspe Peji deceased at the scene.
Over the weekend, Darcy Manitopyes, 19, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, forcible confinement, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
Manitopyes made his first appearance on those charges Tuesday morning at Regina Provincial Court.
This arrest follows last week's charges against 48-year-old Terrina Pelletier who was charged with first-degree murder.
Additionally, 19-year-old Bradley Gardiner has been charged with manslaughter and forcible confinement.
Peji, affectionately called Brando, Andy, and Marlon by family and friends, came to Canada from Mendez, Cavite, according to his obituary.
“In May 2011, he became a permanent resident and brought his family to Canada,” read his obituary.
He was known for his hard work, determination, and generosity. He liked adventures, loved to sing in karaoke and enjoyed the music of Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi.
He left behind his wife, Rose, and their three children.
His family said they were “immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support,” and plan to return his remains to the Philippines.
