More or Less: Welcoming the New Year

Rather than make a New Year’s resolution, I try to choose one word to focus on, both in my personal and professional life.

As 2023 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting over the past year, with all its joys and challenges. It was a good year, but I am looking forward to turning the page and entering 2024 with a renewed passion for what makes me happy.

WEYBURN - As 2023 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting over the past year, with all its joys and challenges. It was a good year, but I am looking forward to turning the page and entering 2024 with a renewed passion for what makes me happy.

Rather than make a New Year’s resolution, I try to choose one word to focus on throughout the year, both in my personal and professional life.

In the past, I’ve chosen words such as Grace, Create, Inspire and even Purge to focus on. As I get older, simplifying my life and investing my time in quality rather than quantity has become key to my physical and mental health.

Sharing this space with my co-worker, Sabrina, has afforded me the opportunity to write columns regularly.

Writing has always been something I love to do. It was letting other people read my words that was the hard part.

The encouragement and comments I’ve received over the time I’ve shared my thoughts here has given me the confidence to move forward with other projects that have been in the works (and in my head). Now to put pen to paper!

As I welcome the New Year, I will focus on the word WRITE. I’ll continue with my thoughts here, but I will also be applying this to my personal life, as I begin the journey that I’ve dreamed of for over 20 years.

If you were to chose one word for 2024, what would it be? What are your goals, your amibitions, your passions, your dreams?

The start of a new year gives us the promise of change, new beginnings, and a fresh start.

Perhaps your word would be Health, or Gratitude, or Patience. Your word should be something that you want to pursue or change within your life.

As we close the book on 2023, I wish you joy and happiness in the new year, and hope you are able to find your word to focus on. One that will improve your life and give you the confidence to move forward with the dreams you have for yourself and your family.

See you next year!
