SASKATOON — The City will be removing the bike lanes on 23rd Street East in downtown Saskatoon starting Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Work is expected to take one week to complete, and the curb lane, parking lane and bike lane will be closed during this time. Sidewalks will remain open.

The 23rd Street bike lanes were installed as part of a demonstration project in 2015, which was intended to end after two years.

At its June 2025 meeting, City Council resolved to remove the demonstration project in 2025. Future planning for the 23rd Street protected bike lanes will occur as part of the 23rd Street Greenway, a component of the City Centre and District Plan.

The city continues to focus on opportunities for improved cycling infrastructure throughout Saskatoon.
