SASKATOON — Despite a moderate Saturday afternoon drizzle, Aug. 2, hundreds celebrated and enjoyed the long weekend at Prairieland Park for the entertainment and thrills of the 2025 Saskatoon Ex. The Saskatoon Ex, now in its 139th year, started with a parade on Wednesday, July 30, and the fairgrounds opened the following day. It closes on Thursday, Aug. 7.
The Ex is more than just rides and carnival games; it has entertainment like magic shows, meet and greet events with various mascots, live band performances, vendors that sell food and different items from clothes to toys and other collectibles, an art exhibit, including a mini museum featuring the event through the years.
But behind the cacophony of shrieks from those who dared to try the rides, like the heart-pounding Mega Drop or the jaw-dropping Mach 3, and the joyous screams of winning stuffed toys in the different carnival games, is an annual summer festival where families and groups of friends spend quality time enjoying the long weekend.
