SASKATOON — After receiving tips and inquiries from across Canada and the United States, police have determined the identity of a man found deceased in the South Saskatchewan River on June 22.
The Saskatoon Police Service says foul play is not suspected in the death and his family has been notified, but no further details on the deceased have been released.
SPS says the Saskatoon Police Missing Persons Unit worked closely with the Forensic Identification Unit, Saskatchewan Coroners Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in order to identify the deceased man. With assistance from the RCMP, a forensic composite sketch was completed and released in hopes it would assist with a positive identification.
The SPS says it is also thankful to the public and other law enforcement agencies.
