SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man charged in connection to a collision that left one woman dead and three others seriously injured has been committed to stand trial.
Wylie Gunnar Vermette elected to be tried by judge and jury. His trial has been scheduled to start in Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench on Jan. 19, 2026.
According to Saskatoon police, on June 11, 2024, Vermette, then 23, was driving at a high rate of speed when his truck hit an SUV at Quebec Avenue near 39th Street East.
Four people in the SUV were taken by EMS to hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old female passenger died in hospital from her injuries.
In June 2024, Vermette was charged with dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
