SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department says they were able to rescue a person from the South Saskatchewan River on Saturday.
The call came in at 1:13 p.m. that there was a person in distress in the river. A witness reported the person had jumped from 33rd Street East Railway Bridge, says SFD.
Firefighters observed a person in the water, north of the Railway Bridge where the water was shallow. A water rescue team member engaged the person in the water and applied a life jacket. Boat 5 was deployed, and due to the shallow water conditions, was walked to the patient, who was then transported to shore and transferred to ambulance personnel, says the SFD.
The scene was turned over to police for further investigation.
