On Jan. 26 the Alida and District Lions Club will be holding a supper and comedy night, with special guest Big Daddy Tazz, a comedian who has been in the business for 22 years. The evening will be held at the Alida Memorial hall.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP received 48 calls between Jan. 4 and Jan. 10. Calls began on Jan. 4 with a two vehicle collision near Arcola. Two semis were involved. Traffic was temporarily rerouted through Arcola for a short time.

Interested students from G.F. Kells will be heading to Asessippi Ski Resort on Friday, February 15, 2013. Friday, January 25th, 2013, is the last day to get ski trip forms handed in for this trip. Students can choose to ski, snowboard, or tube.

On Saturday, Jan. 26, the 20th Annual Snowmobile Rally held by the Optimist Club of Arcola will take place. The full day event will begin with a pancake breakfast open to everyone at Prairie Place between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Midway through December Sun Country Health notified the area that the emergency department and in-patient services at Arcola Health Centre would be suspended beginning Dec. 24 at 8 a.m.
