A small school with lots of heart in the southeast

Kennedy Langbank Wake a thon 2022
Kennedy Langbank School recently held its annual wake a thon.

KENNEDY - Kennedy Langbank School held its 18th annual wake-a-thon for charity on May 27-28.

Every year, students from Grades 4-8 collect pledges for a charity and stay up all night at the school. Students spend their time playing games, watching movies, doing art projects and snacking.

In the past, we have raised money for charities that touch individual students such as cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy or the Discovery Ranch therapeutic riding. Other years, we have chosen charities that help youth in general such as Kids Help Phone, Make a Wish Foundation and A Child’s Voice.

Some years it has been a local charity such as Kidsport or the Kipling Hospital Fund. Yet other years, we choose a more global awareness such as the Tsunami victims in Japan or this year, Ukraine.

Twenty-five students collected $2,832 and donated it to Ukraine through the Canadian Red Cross. This amazing total added to previous years bumps the school’s overall total to over $32,000 raised for charity in the past 18 years of wake-a-thon.
