ESTEVAN - The South East Military Museum is acknowledging and thanking everyone who took part in the inaugural year of the Remembrance Banner Program.

The museum was able to purchase the hardware required to hang remembrance banners throughout Estevan and surrounding areas.

Financial support was received from the City of Estevan, the Southern Plains Co-Op in Estevan and Carlyle, the Town of Lampman and Veteran Affairs Canada’s Commemorative Partnership Program.

With the support and approval of the community councils and help from the public works crews and SaskPower, 35 banners were successfully placed in Estevan, Weyburn, Lampman, Midale, Stoughton, Carlyle and Redvers.

The banners act as a visual reminder and commemorate those who served and sacrificed for Canada – from the First and Second World Wars to Afghanistan. The program will return in the summer of 2022 with banners being hung at the end of August and remaining until after Remembrance Day.

Banners that were hanging in Estevan were taken down this week.

If you wish to take part in the upcoming Remembrance Banner Program, contact the museum through its website or on Facebook .
