Weyburn Duplicate Bridge hosts games in October

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club was happy to have a steady attendance during the month of October.

WEYBURN - As the weather became cooler in October, the Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club was happy to have a steady attendance. The club plays on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and on Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre. All bridge players are welcome to come and play.

October 3 started the month with four and a half tables playing and Barry Mactaggart and Diane Bell had a strong game to finish in first place; Garnet Hart and Joan Harder took second; Jean Knibbs and Shirley Sparks came third, and Lucie Nickel and Lydia Milleker were fourth.

On Oct. 6 there were three tables and top honours went to Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel, while second place went to Millie Nimegeers and Jerry Ponto.

Four tables played on Oct. 10 and Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart claimed first place, Fran Franks and Meta Murray placed second, and Denis Tremblay and Rick Wanner came third.

There were five tables on Oct. 13, and first place went to Gord Bell and Marg Stewart who edged out Fran Franks and Meta Murray who placed second; Erskine Sandiford and Theresa Istace came third followed closely by Joan Harder and Jean Fahlman in fourth.

Five tables played on Oct. 17, and Fran Franks and Meta Murray claimed first place; Gord Bell and Marg Stewart took second; Erskine and Mildred Sandiford came third, and Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel were fourth.

On Oct. 20 with five tables, Gord Bell and Fred Milleker finished in first place; Linda Kot and Theresa Istace placed second; Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel came third edging out Boyd Stewart and Dave Creuer were fourth.

Four and a half tables played on Oct. 24 and the leaders were Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart in first; Linda Kot and Theresa Istace took second followed closely by Marg Stewart and Diane Bell who were third, and Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel were fourth.

October 27 had five and a half tables and taking first were Marg Stewart and Diane Bell, placing second were Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart who were followed closely by Joan Harder and Jean Fahlman in third, and Linda Kot and Jim Kaz came fourth.

On Halloween night there were just three and a half tables and with a strong game Lucie Nickel and Lydia Miller finished in first place playing at 75 per cent; Marg Stewart and Diane Bell came second; and Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart were third.
