Weyburn library offers programs, activities for all

The Weyburn Public Library has a range of activities and programs for all ages in March.

WEYBURN - Programs and activities for the very young, children, teens and adults are available at the Weyburn Public Library in the coming weeks of March and April.

Preschool stories, stretches and movement for children aged three to five is held one Friday a month at 10 a.m., including on March 18, with playful storytimes around the theme, “Spring has sprung”. The next one will be on April 1, with the theme, “Buggin’ Out”.

The program Baby and Me, for newborns up to 12 months, will be on Tuesday, March 22 at 10 a.m.

Adventure Gaming for children aged seven to 12 is held every other Wednesday, with the next one on March 23 at 4 p.m.

The next junior chef session will be on Tuesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. A tween chef session is planned for Tuesday, March 22 at 4 p.m.

A program called Tweens can code will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 4 p.m., and the session will be program mad libs with Python.

The tween book club will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m. on “Anne of Green Gables”.

There are two different cooking programs for teens. The Dorm Room Cooking program will go on Sunday, March 20 at 2 p.m., and will be about making breakfast smoothies, and a blueberry, oat and honey crisp. The next teen cooking session will be on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m., making lunch box pizzas.

Dungeons and Dragons is held at the library every second Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m., with upcoming dates March 17 and 31, and April 14 and 28.

A PD day program, entitled “This day off shall not be named”, will be held on March 18 and 21, and will feature an interactive way to watch “Black Panther” (March 18) and a Challenge Monday, where teens can take various challenges against each other.

For adults, there will be a class in Mandala painting on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. with Tana Torkelson, and a class in acrylic painting on Saturday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m.

You can learn about painting Ukrainian Easter eggs in a class on Saturday, April 2.

The adult book club will next meet on Monday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m., and they will discuss the book, “Behind the Beautiful Forevers” by Katherine Boo. The book in April will be “The Cure for Modern Life” by Lisa Tucker.

Later in April, the Weyburn Public Library will hold their spring book sale from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30, and the library will start taking book donations after Thursday, April 14.
