Arson suspected in vehicle fire incident

A 27-year-old man is facing charges of impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent as a result of Estevan Police Service intervention on the night of May 13.

A 27-year-old man is facing charges of impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent as a result of Estevan Police Service intervention on the night of May 13. The driver attracted the attention of police through some erratic driving activity that evening. He has a June 7 court date.

On the night of May 14, EPS members received a report of a vehicle fire inside the MacKenzie Towing compound in the 900 block of Eva Street. Estevan Fire Rescue Services personnel attended the scene to extinguish the blaze. Police noted that three vehicles stored in the compound were damaged as a result of the incident. They have now opened an investigation into a possible arson situation in connection with this matter.

That same evening, EPS members charged a 46-year-old woman for driving while impaired and driving while over .08 and one other driver was issued a 30-day roadside licence suspension while another 24-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

On the night of May 15, EPS members were kept busy issuing no less than 22 summary offence tickets for various bylaw and provincial statute infractions.
