ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Festival of Trees will “Share the Joy” of the holiday season live and in person for the first time since 2019. The fundraising event will return to the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre on December 3.

“The committee is so excited to bring the community together for this event that raises funds for the South Country Health Care Foundation and the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre”, said committee chair Michele Hoffos. “These organizations are so integral to the well-being and vibrancy of Assiniboia and surrounding communities and we have seen the difference that the $824,000 we’ve raised over the past 22 years has made. We are just so happy we have the opportunity to gather together again to raise funds for these two benefactor organizations.”

This year’s event will feature a live auction, silent auction, live entertainment by the UnCoolas and more! Individuals can follow the Assiniboia Festival of Trees Facebook page to keep up to date on what is happening with the event.

Hoffos says this is an especially meaningful year for some of the Festival of Trees committee members. “We have three long-time committee members retiring after this event, so we really want to make this year especially joyful.”

The three retiring members include herself, and Paul and Diane Topola who have committed over 50 years of combined service to the fundraising event. With their departure the committee has on boarded some new faces to participate in organizing this year’s event and serve on the committee into the future. They are pleased to welcome Joanna Croissant, who will take over as chair, along with Candace Mowbray, Geri Ruzicka, Sandy Hrycuik-Ellert and Shelly Bissonnette.

The committee will again be inviting area businesses/organizations to donate items. They will be delivering invitations over the next few weeks and those interested in donating can speak directly to a committee member or they can contact Erin Eberle at 306-640-8919 or Mom’s Florist at 306-642-4777.
