Details of WCS 2022 Grad finalized, parade route tweaked

The parade format will be the same as in 2021, with grads on flatbed trailers and floats as they go through the downtown area

WEYBURN – Details for Grad 2022 for the Weyburn Comprehensive School are being finalized, with an adjustment made to the parade route.

Grad ceremonies and activities will be held on Saturday, June 11, starting with the punch reception at the Darold Kot Field at 9:30 a.m.

The reception is hosted by the Weyburn Comp’s School Community Council and the track canteen by the field.

Grads are required to meet at the track at 10:30 a.m. to get organized, and the graduation exercises will start at 11 a.m. at Darold Kot Field.

If there is inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held at Crescent Point Place. All parents and grads will receive notification by June 10 if the location is to be moved.

Rehearsal for all grads is on June 10 at 3:30 p.m. at Darold Kot Field, and all students are expected to be present in order to participate in the ceremony.

Guests can bring their own lawn chairs, or there will be rush seating available in the bleachers at the football field.

The parade, organized by the 2022 Student and Parent committee, will follow a similar format as for the grad parade last year, with the graduates on floats.

The parade will line up in the parking lot behind the Sports Arena at 2:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 3 p.m. The Grand March and a short program will be held in Crescent Point Place right after the parade.

The parade will head out from the fair grounds east on Prairie Avenue to Third Street, and will head south to Souris Avenue, turning west and then will head up Second Street to Bison Avenue.

The parade will head to Government Road, and will go over to Coteau Avenue West, go two blocks and turn at the Sports Arena. This will enable the grads to head right into Crescent Point Place for the Grand March.
