Estevan man gets a year in prison for child pornography

An Estevan man was sentenced Monday on a child pornography charge.

ESTEVAN - An Estevan man has been sentenced to a year in prison for possession of child pornography.

Trevor Dean Curtis was sentenced Monday in Estevan Provincial Court. He has also received three years probation, and cannot attend a place where children are expected to be present – such as parks, swimming pools and schools – for six years.

Upon release from prison, he has to register for the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years.

Curtis was charged in January after members of the Estevan Police Service patrol division, criminal investigation division and the Saskatchewan Integrated Child Exploitation Unit conducted an investigation.

He pleaded guilty in May to the child pornography charge.
