Girard Bulk is expanding its Carlyle location, adding more fuel pumps to accommodate the growing needs of its customers in the area.

"We're adding more pumps, especially diesel pumps," explains Neil Thompson, Girard Bulk Service manager for Carlyle. "There will be five clear diesel pumps."

This is in addition to a dyed diesel pump and a gasoline pump.

The expansion is intended to lessen, if not completely eliminate, line-ups at the pumps, which have grown in the recent years as the area has experienced increased traffic due to the oil boom.

The addition of these diesel pumps will be especially nice for semi trucks, which will be able to be fueled much quicker now. Semi trucks have fuel tanks on both sides, meaning with the additional pumps the driver will be able to fuel up on both sides, making the process twice as quick. In addition, a second semi could fuel up at the same time.

"At the moment we're very busy with big trucks so we're hoping it will alleviate the line ups," said Thompson. "Right now we're looking to serve the customers we have and hopefully it will grow after that."

Thompson wants to remind Girard Bulk customers that while the Carlyle location is undergoing construction, there are other Girard Bulk locations in there area which can continue to serve their needs. The company appreciates its customers' continued patience during this time of expansion and looks forward to better serving people in the future.

The entire expansion, which began at the end of August, is expected to take about three weeks.
