REGINA — Access Communications has announced the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer Jim Deane in January 2023.

Access states in a news release that their board of directors has established a CEO search committee to lead efforts to replace Deane. The board has expressed confidence there will be a smooth transition. While the search to replace him is conducted, Deane will stay on until his retirement in January 2023.

“Jim Deane has been with our co-operative since 1981, and in his over 40 years in a leadership role, he has been instrumental in growing our co-operative into the leading-edge telecommunications company it is today," said James Lainton, board chair  in a statement.

"As CEO since 2000, Jim has provided a strong vision as our 100 per cent community-owned organization expanded to over 235 Saskatchewan communities, including an additional 200,000 square kilometres of rural areas. It was Jim’s commitment to the founding principles of our co-operative, and co-operatives in general, that made the biggest difference.”

“It has been my honour to lead this fantastic co-operative over the years, and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from our many co-operative members, board, staff, volunteers and the communities Access is privileged to serve,” said Deane in a statement.
