Born to Matt and Mallory Olson of Estevan, a son on August 8th, He weighed 7lbs 7oz and has been named Marek William Lee. He is a brother for Lexi and Halle , a grandson for Darren and Kathy Olson and Gene and Michelle Luscombe and a great-grandson for Liz Luscombe all of Wawota.

Gordon and Val Van Dresar had their annual summer visitors , Benjaman and Zachery Van Dresar from Strathmore, AB. They were here for several weeks and last week Trevor and Jacob came for a few days visit and then they all returned home.

Word has been received of the passing of Gerry Jacklin of Estevan. He passed away on August 7th at the age of 83 years. He was married to the late Doris Howarth and leaves his children, Debbie, Kim, Patsy, Garry, Dwayne and Marcie and their families. His funeral service was held in Estevan on August 12th.

Phil Heinrichs and Sylvia Jewkes have returned home after a trip out west. They drove to Strathmore and on to Kamloops where they visited their son, Victor. They stopped at Abbotsford to visit Phil's 93-year-old aunt. On the way home they walked the Giant Cedar Trail, the Hemlock Trail and the Bear Creek Trail. They stayed at Revelstoke overnight and on to Banff and Calgary and then home.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Teresa (Penney) Ottenbreit who passed away at Sylvan Lake on August 2nd.She battled cancer for the last 4 years and was in her 50th year. She leaves her partner, Billy and family of Devron, Nick, Carver and Wristyn.

Visiting with Gloria Edwards recently were her granddaughter and husband, Kali and Ian Wiersma, Olivia and David from St. Catherines, ON.

Theoren West and his family traveled to Quebec this past week where Theoren was taking part in the Canadian Junior Golfing. Only 70 players moved on after the first 3 rounds to finish the last 2 rounds. Theoren made the cut and placed 19th overall. Congratulations on this great effort!

The Wawota Lions organized a Meet and Greet last Friday, August 13th. It was a great afternoon with vendors selling their merchandise and there were several food venues. Many just sat around and visited, catching up on what everyone had been doing these past many months.
