Legacy Park Elementary School, shown here on its first day of class, has over 600 students attending, and the nutrition program is in need of support. The Neighbourhood Market sale on Thursday, Sept. 9, will be in support of this program.

A Neighbourhood Market will be held at the Weyburn Free Methodist Church, located on the corner of 14th Street NE and Coteau Avenue, on Thursday, September 9 from 3 to 8 p.m.

All proceeds from the Neighbourhood Market will be donated to the Legacy Park School Nutrition Program, as the new school has incorporated students from Souris, Haig and Queen Elizabeth schools.

The program had formerly started at Souris School and grew over the past few years, and this program will be bigger with over 600 children at Legacy Park.

With COVID in the past year, expenses are going up as each item of food has to be wrapped individually, plus many food prices have been going up, so more funds and donations are needed for the program this school year.

The Neighbourhood Market will feature a combination of a garage sale, bake sale, and barbecue. There will be burgers, hot dogs, and beef on a bun available.

In support of the event, Western Prime Meats, PAR Contracting and Ritchie Brothers has donated meat and buns, and Fletcher’s Funeral Chapel donated ice cream.
