New Superintendent of Schools announced

South East Cornerstone School Division announced the appointment of Keith Keating as the new Superintendent of Schools for south area schools on January 28. Keating will commence duties in his new position on August 1.

In accepting the new position, Keating said, "I look forward to continue working in the South East Cornerstone School Division in my new role as superintendent, while helping support success and achievement for students in our division. I am also very pleased to be working with an experienced and committed group of senior leaders."

Keating completed his undergraduate degree in 1999 at the University of Brandon, graduating with a Bachelor of Education. He began his teaching career at Creighton Community School in 1999, where he taught Grades 7 to 9 Science, Grade 9 English Language Arts and Grade 9 Life Skills. He then became the principal of Benson School for two years, where he taught a variety of subjects to students in Kindergarten to Grade 6.

In 2002, Keating became the vice-principal of Haig School in Weyburn before moving on to become the principal two years later. In 2008, Keith moved into his current position as principal at the Weyburn Junior High School.

In addition to his duties, Keating returned to the classroom at the University of Regina where he completed his Masters of Education in 2007.

Director of Education Dr. Marc Casavant stated, "We are looking forward to having Mr. Keating join our Senior Leadership Team. Keith has demonstrated his leadership in a variety of school settings and has been successful in leading his staff at the Weyburn Junior High in numerous continuous improvement initiatives."
