National Volunteer Week, April 10 to 16, is an opportunity for communities within southeast Saskatchewan to say thank you to those local volunteers who have dedicated their time to make their community a better place.

Each year, the Southeast Connection Awards Program calls for nominations from community members to recognize the achievements and contributions made by volunteers.

Anybody can nominate an individual whose voluntary work strengthens and enriches life in the community through sport, culture and recreation. Recipients must reside within the boundaries of the Southeast District. All nominations will be reviewed by an Awards Committee made up of representatives appointed by Southeast Connection.

There are seven award categories: Culture, Recreation, Youth, Sport, Athlete & Team, Official and Coach. The deadline for nominations is April 15.

Complete the online 2011 nomination form and send it to Laura McCarron, Southeast Connection Coordinator by email at lmccarron@southeastconnection.ca, fax it to (306) 429-2260 or mail to Box 270, Glenavon, SK, S0G 1Y0.
