PILOT BUTTE — Lisa and Mike Hodnefield are thinking about trading the cold winter weather for somewhere a bit warmer after discovering they won $250,000 thanks to the Extra they added to their ticket for the May 18 Lotto 6/49 draw.

The day after the draw, Lisa woke up and started her daily routine before heading to work, except this time, her routine was a little more pleasant than usual.

“I have my tickets on my side table and every morning I roll over and check my tickets to see if I have to go to work or not; that morning, I got a nice little surprise,” she laughed.

She discovered their win by scanning the ticket using the Lotto Spot! App. After scanning the ticket a few more times, Lisa went online to see where the winning ticket was sold.

“It said ’Regina,’ I said, ‘yep, it's me,’” she laughed.

Lisa called her husband at work to share the good news before heading off to work herself — although she said it was understandably hard to focus.

The Pilot Butte residents said their windfall hasn't sunk in yet, but they're starting to think about what they will do.

“Help the kids a little and maybe retire sooner. Maybe take a holiday to somewhere warm in the winter,” Lisa said.

The happy couple purchased their winning ticket from the Sherwood Co-op at 4705 Gordon Rd. in Regina on May 17. They won by matching all seven of the winning Extra numbers – 6702075.
