Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory issued in Assiniboia

A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory has been placed on the Town of Assiniboia.

ASSINIBOIA - Please be advised the Town of Assiniboia was placed on a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory on September 2. This advisory has been issued due to a turbidity exceedance and therefore the safety of the drinking water supply cannot be ensured at all times.


What is Turbidity?

-        the quality of being cloudy, opaque, or thick with suspended matter.

Why is the Water this colour?

The sediment levels are higher than normal, making the water cloudy and discolored, due to the high summer temperatures and the lack of rain.

Who determines when a Water Advisory is placed and removed?

The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency.  The Water Security Agency manages Saskatchewan's water supply, safe drinking water and treatment of wastewater, protect aquatic habitat and provide information about water.  

The advisory can be removed when turbidity returns to normal levels, water quality returns to acceptable levels and a total of 6 samples meet all requirements.
