Premier Moe to visit Assiniboia, tour new rink

Premier Scott Moe will be in Assiniboia on Wednesday, August 3 and meeting with council at 2 p.m.

Construction continues on the stands in the north east corner of the Southland Co-op Centre Arena.

A council meeting for the Town of Assiniboia was held on July 12. In attendance were: Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Councillors:  Kent Fettes, Peter Kordus, Renee Clermont, Patrick Grondin, Graham Harvey and Bob Ellert; CAO Clint Mauthe; and Kerri Martin.

Public acknowledgements was given to Tom Stanley and Assiniboia Times. The agenda was adopted as presented.  Moved by Grondin/Fettes.

The minutes of the last council meeting of June 27 accepted and adopted as read.  Moved by Ellert/Harvey. The minutes of the Assiniboia Museum were adopted and accepted as read.  Moved by Fettes/ Clermont.

Correspondence was accepted and adopted from: Assiniboia Museum Newsletter; South West District for Recreation and Sport; and the Summer Municipal Update. Moved by Fettes/ Kordus.

Administration reports were given by Clint Mauthe. It was a very busy month around town with several projects on the go. Compliments given for how nice the repainted fire hydrants look.

Premier Scott Moe will be in Assiniboia on Wednesday, August 3 and meeting with council at 2 p.m.

There will be a general forum at the Prince of Wales that same day at 6:30 p.m. He will be given the grand tour while here of the new rink.

Mauthe reports the new boiler has been installed for the swimming pool.

The water report for the month was excellent quality. The list of paid accounts raised some questions from council, but all accounts accepted as paid.

Request for Decision: Acquire Tax Title was approved for next step to putting this in place. Moved by Grondin/ Ellert.

Councillor reports given on activities in the last few weeks of meeting attended and events attended.
