Public intoxication incidents handled by local police

The man who was arrested was lodged in cells and charged with causing a disturbance.


A 42-year-old Ontario man was arrested for being intoxicated in public after several reports were received from people expressing concern for the man's safety as he walked in the central business part of the city on the night of Sept. 28.


As a result of these concerns, the man was lodged in cells and released when sober.


A 32-year-old Manitoba man was arrested after he fell asleep in the bathroom of a local convenience store. It was noted that the man was intoxicated and as a result he was lodged in cells and later released after regaining sobriety.


A report of several men leaving a local lounge in an intoxicated state, intending to drive a motor vehicle, led to a call being placed to EPS. Unfortunately all members on duty at the time were engaged in responses to other calls and were unable to attend the area immediately. The vehicle which may have been driven by an impaired individual could not be located later.


On Sept. 29, EPS members were called to a residence on the west side of the city in response to a domestic disturbance. The matter was resolved and the file closed.


Police were next called to the Kensington Avenue area following a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.


Soon after the incident report had been filed on the Kensington collision, police were called to another accident site at Second Avenue and Fourth Street. This two-vehicle incident did not involve any injuries and the matter was concluded.


A report of a motorcycle fire at the corner of Fourth Street and 13th Avenue required police attendance while the fire was being extinguished. No injuries were reported.


A 24-year-old Earl Grey man was charged with driving while impaired following a traffic stop in the central part of the city on the night of Sept. 30.


The man will appear in court in November to answer to the charges while a 25-year-old female, the registered owner of the vehicle, was charged for being intoxicated in public and for refusing to comply with the demands of officers on the scene of the arrest.


On that same evening, EPS members responded to a single vehicle collision near King Street and Woodlawn Avenue. The matter remains under investigation and police are requesting the assistance of the public in the event that someone may have witnessed the incident.


A 23-year-old Estevan man was arrested on outstanding warrants on the night of Sept. 30. He had been spotted in an intoxicated state in the central part of the city. He was taken into custody, and lodged in cells until sober and now has a November court date.


A 21-year-old homeowner was charged under the City's noise bylaw after police responded to a complaint call in the central part of the city on Sept. 30.


On the night of Oct. 2, a 32-year-old man was arrested and lodged in cells following his refusal to supply a breath sample for a roadside screening device to check on a state of intoxication.


On the night of Oct. 3, a 29-year-old Alberta man was charged with driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent and for being in possession of a controlled substance.


On that same night two men and a woman from Alberta were arrested and lodged in cells after being charged for being intoxicated in a public place.
