REGINA — Regina voters will be able to hop the bus for free on Election Day, provided they are headed to an election poll to cast their ballot.

The City of Regina is offering residents free transit passes to help them exercise their right to vote on Sept. 20, in an effort to remove barriers and encourage voter turnout.

“It’s important for residents to get out and vote,” said Kim Onrait, executive director of citizen services. “We want everyone to have an opportunity to get to their polling stations and have their say in this Federal Election and we hope a free bus ride will help.”

The passes are available to download online through the city’s website, for residents to either print or present on their phone to bus drivers on Monday.

Those without access to a computer can also pick up a pass at the Transit Information Centre, at 2124 – 11th Avenue.

Both regular transit and paratransit services will accepting the passes, and officials remind residents that masks are required when riding on Regina buses.
