Regina teacher arrested following “inappropriate relationship” with teen

A Regina high school teacher is facing charges for allegedly sexual contact with a teenage student on social media.

REGINA — Police arrested a Regina high school teacher on Thursday, following investigation into a reported relationship occurring with an underaged youth.

Jeffery Dumba, 49, has been charged with several sexual charges, in relation to alleged communication of a sexual nature with a female youth.

Regina police said they were made aware of Dumba's contact with the teen on Thursday, at which time they began seeking initial statements.

Information from Regina Police said that they were "made aware of what was described as an inappropriate relationship/communication" taking place via social media.

Dumba was taken into custody with no incident, said police, after school administration was contacted and the safety of the victim was ensured.

Those involved with the investigation have been contacted at this time.

Police have declined to release further details, to protect the underage victim.

Dumba has been charged with luring, sexual exploitation and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

He has since been released on undertaking with several conditions, and will make his first appearance in provincial court on Oct. 21.
