Get ready to saddle up and hold on tight, it's almost time for the Weyburn Rodeo. The annual Weyburn Agricultural Society Rodeo will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7. The Saturday show will take place at 5 p.m. and the Sunday show will start at 1 p.m. All the rodeo events will take place on the exhibition grounds.

The rodeo will be held in conjunction with the 15th annual Weyburn Wheat Festival. People can expect to see bull riding, steer wrestling, a tie-down competition, amateur saddle bronc, team roping, ladies barrel racing, and junior barrel racing. All of these events will be held on both days of the rodeo, giving residents an opportunity to attend a variety of events.

Usually about 250 people compete in the rodeo over the course of the weekend. Entrants for the rodeo go through the Canadian Cowboy Association (CCA) out of Regina. Cowboys and cowgirls will be competing for prizes valued at $800 this year over the two day event.

"It's a pretty big rodeo, and I'm hoping to win some money," said Tyler Kmita. Kmita will be competing in the team roping event.

Admission to the rodeo is $10 for adults, $7 for students aged 13 to 18, $3 for kids aged six to 12, and kids younger than six years are free.
