On July 25, at approximately 11:10 p.m., White Butte RCMP received a report of a collision on Highway 1 near Balgonie.

According to RCMP, investigation has determined a car and a van collided in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the car, an 18-year-old male from White City, and the passenger of the van, a 64-year-old female from Nanaimo, B.C., were pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
