Weyburn City Police respond to assault, theft and mischief calls

Officers responded to a variety of calls involving domestic disputes, family relations, mental health, general well-being checks

Weyburn police responded to 62 calls for service during the week of August 16 to 22.

Weyburn -- The Weyburn Police Service responded to 62 calls for service during the week of August 16 to 22, resulting in five charges under the Criminal Code of Canada. The criminal charges include assault, assault with a weapon, theft, mischief, and fail to comply with a condition of a release order.

In the early morning hours of August 18, officers responded to reported assault involving minor injuries to an adult female. An adult male was taken into custody and later released for an upcoming court appearance. The male faces charges of Assault with a Weapon and Mischief to Property under $5,000.

Sometime between the evening of August 16 and the morning of August 18, a red and white “Pelican Summit” kayak was taken from the backyard of a residence located in the south area of Weyburn. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Weyburn Police as the owner can identify the kayak if located.

Officers responded to a late evening assault on August 19 involving two adult males. One male was assaulted while sleeping and sustained minor injuries. This matter is currently under investigation.

One male faces charges of assault, theft, and failing to comply with a condition of his release following incidents on August 20 and 21. The male, who was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, was taken into custody and later released on conditions with an upcoming court appearance.

Officers also responded to a variety of other calls involving domestic disputes, family relations, mental health, general well-being checks, missing bicycles, and several City of Weyburn bylaw related issues such as parking, overgrown trees/bushes, and animal calls. The Weyburn Police remind those that are missing items such as bicycles, to contact the Weyburn Police and arrange to see the recovered bicycles that were located or turned in to the police.
