The Weyburn Youth Centre will hold a fundraising online auction this year instead of the annual banquet.

The Weyburn Youth Centre board has decided to cancel the fundraising banquet set for Oct. 2, and to go ahead with an online auction instead.

Board chair Cam Weber said in a message on Saturday, “The board had a meeting on Friday and decided due to new restrictions coming on Oct. 1, and in talking with our caterer and Knox Hall people, that we need to cancel the banquet part of the fundraiser.”

The Youth Centre will go online and do an online auction with the support they have received from community businesses.

“During this week as we get items set up, we will begin posting them on our Facebook page under Weyburn Youth Center (small printing will say youth group), with a background picture of the Tags sign and building,” he said.

Bidding will open Saturday, October 2 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. People can bid on the various items, and when bidding closes at 9 p.m. the winners will be notified.

They can pick their items up on Saturday evening from 9 to 11 p.m., Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and Monday 4-7 p.m. at Weyburn Youth Centre building (291 Coteau Avenue West).

People can pay for their items with either cash or cheque when picking up, or e-transfer funds to the Weyburn Youth Center. If items are not picked up during specified times they will go to next highest bidder. For more information please call 306-861-2002.

The fundraiser is being held to help cover the day-to-day costs of operating the Youth Centre, which will allow the doors to stay open for the youth of Weyburn and area.
