The 2021 Weyburn Fair had a fantastic year

WEYBURN – It was a fantastic year for the Weyburn Fair, despite a short set-up time, and short notice that the midway was coming, with a total of 8,800 visitors to the Fair over four days.

The Chamber Parade award winners in the two categories were, for Business, Master Radon, and for Organization, the Lomond 4-H Beef Club, with over 50 floats entered.

A Nutrition Program that ensured students at Souris School could reach their potential by providing healthy breakfasts and snacks during the day was expanded and reached many more families at the new Legacy Park Elementary School.

Weyburn woman Sabrina Mainil, 24, marked her one-year anniversary of her diagnosis of leukemia on July 2 by having her sister Ambria take a victory photo of her in full remission.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) issued a provincial fire ban for Crown lands, provincial parks due to hot, dry conditions and an extreme fire risk that covered most of the province.

A settlement was reached between Southeast Cornerstone School Division and Wade Oberg, the former principal of the Weyburn Comprehensive School, after the school division lost two court challenges over his firing in 2017.

Weyburn student Megan Ebel received her award as one of Saskatchewan’s Junior Citizens of the Year in July after the award was first announced in June.

Prairie Sky Co-op celebrated their brand-new Home Centre with a ribbon-cutting on July 22, a new 21,000-sq.-ft. facility located west of Crossroads C-Store and cardlock at the junction of Highways 13 and 39.

The “new” Prairie Memories Museum’s grand opening and annual barbecue was held in Fillmore on July 21 at its new location in the former United Church.
