Y.G. ladies night to 'Paint Town Pink' November 13

Yellow Grass (cpd) - The Yellow Grass Ladies Night will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Yellow Grass Communiplex. The theme chosen was "Let's Paint the Town Pink". Guests are encouraged to wear their craziest, pinkest outfits.

Guests are encouraged to wear their craziest, pinkest outfits. Tickets went on sale on Oct. 21, and there were still some remaining tickets at Danna's Variety Store that can be purchased. Money raised will go to different community projects and a portion will go to the Erin Westling Trust Fund.

A bridge tournament was held at the Drop-In Centre on Oct. 16. There were 46 players attending from Avonlea, Milestone, Weyburn, Fillmore, Lampman, and Estevan in addition to those attending from Yellow Grass. The ladies of the centre had served lunch.

Winning first were Margaret Sawyer and Carrie Leptich of Estevan, and in second was Joyce Hemphill and Nancy Day of Weyburn, with third taken by George Gillies and Andy Goeres of Weyburn.

A shuffleboard tournament was held in the Yellow Grass Drop In Centre on Oct. 15. First place was won by Sophie Skulmoski and Doug Chase, with second awarded to Donna Chase and Bill Harder.

The Operation Christmas Child project in Yellow Grass will be organized by Faye Altwasser. Interested individuals may pick up boxes from Faye at 228 Brome Street or from Danna's Variety Store on Souris Street. Filled boxes need to be dropped off at either location by Nov. 19. More information can be obtained by contacting Faye Altwasser.

Mary (Louise) Boren, a former resident of Yellow Grass, passed away on Oct. 18 at the age of 101. Funeral services were held on Oct. 21 at the Yellow Grass United Church. Officiating was Rev. M. Barnabas and interment was held in the Yellow Grass cemetery.

Gladys Beatrice Jeannette McNaught, formerly of Yellow Grass, passed away on Oct. 11 at 92 years of age. Funeral service was held on Oct. 23 in the Yellow Grass United Church with Rev. David Hanes officiating. Interment was held in the Yellow Grass cemetery.

The nuisance grounds will no longer be open to the public on Wednesday evening, and the last date was Oct. 20. Regular garbage pick-up still continues on Monday and is carried out by the town workmen.
