Assiniboia U15 hockey players compete in Calgary tourney

Members of the Assiniboia/Mossbank U15 Rebels attended the Stick It To Kids Cancer Tournament, held in Calgary from March 18 to 20.

ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia/Mossbank U15 Rebels attended the Stick It To Kids Cancer Tournament in Calgary, held March 18 to 20.

There were 42 teams in six divisions with the Rebels competing against six teams in their division

They faced up against the Edmonton KC Sabres with a 8-2 win. Then won 5-3 against the Bonnyville Pontiacs. They had a 1-1 tie with the Grand Prairie Knights and finished the round round in second place, for a chance to compete in the A final.

In the final game, the U15 Rebels won 4-0 over the Calgary South West Cougars, claiming the tournament championship.

The Rebels would like to thank everyone who purchased Grey Cup squares, and big winner for donating her winnings back to the team. Many supporters also bought Basket of Cheer tickets. The money was used help cover costs for the tournament as well a portion was donated to the Kids Stick It To Cancer Foundation. The support from the community was very appreciated by the players and coaching staff.
