Estevan U13, U15 Bearcats in action on the weekend

ESTEVAN - The two Estevan Power Dodge U13 Bearcats teams were in action on the weekend.  

The Bearcats 1 (1-3-1) picked up three of a possible four points. First they knocked off the Madville Huskies 8-1 on Friday at the Power Dodge Arena.  

Peyton McIntyre, Ryleigh Snell scored in the first period, and Olivia Von Sprecken tallied in the second. Estevan pulled away in the third, with Von Sprecken scoring twice to complete the hat trick, Katie Sauder also getting two goals and Nevaeh Duke adding the other.

Estevan then tied the Lumsden-Bethune Yellow Lynx 4-4 on Sunday. Sauder scored twice, including a short-handed, game-tying goal with 66 seconds to play in the third. Von Sprecken and Snell also scored. 

All four Estevan goals game in the third period, as the Bearcats 1 trailed 3-0 and 4-1.

Taylor Short was in goal for both games.  

The Bearcats 2 lost 4-2 on Saturday afternoon to Lumsden-Bethune at the Power Dodge Arena. Haven Bourassa and Taya Northrop scored for Estevan.  

Adalyn Christopherson was in goal for the game. 

Bearcats 2 (1-4) will visit Lumsden-Bethune on Nov. 14 for two games.

The Estevan Southland Pulse U15 A Bearcats went 0-2 in home games on the weekend, losing 5-1 on Saturday and 3-0 on Sunday to the Regina Rebels Gold. 

Alyssa Scheigert had the Bearcats’ lone goal on the weekend. At the time, it left Estevan down 2-1 with five minutes to play in the third but Regina would get three more goals.  

Casey Brady was in goal for both games.  

The Bearcats (0-4-2) will return to the ice when they host the Prairie Ice on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at Affinity Place, and Nov. 21 at the Prairie Dodge Arena at 3 p.m.

The South East TS&M U18 A Gold Wings dropped three games in three nights, losing 9-2 to the Saskatoon Destroyers on Friday, 8-1 to the Saskatoon Comet Predators Saturday and 13-0 to the Prairie Storm on Sunday. 

The games against Saskatoon teams were on the road, while the game versus the Prairie Storm was in Midale.  

Lola Brady scored eight minutes into the first period to tie the game at 1-1, but Saskatoon pulled away. Delainy Knoll also scored for the Wings.  

Brady had the goal against the Comet Predators. 

Karley Martin was in goal for all three games.  

The Goldwings (0-6) will host the Destroyers on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and the Comet Predators the following day at 3:45 p.m. Both games will be in Midale.

The South East U18 AA Gold Wings defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 4-1 on Nov. 3 for their third win in four games. 

Trista Stadnick opened the scoring in the first period, and then Paytin Copeland scored what proved to be the winner with four seconds to play in the opening frame. Copeland and Madi Doud scored in the third. 

Notre Dame spoiled the shutout in the final minute.  

Phoenix Preston-Winder was in goal for the victory. 

The Goldwings (3-4-1) will host the North East Aces on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and the Parkland Fire on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. Both games will be in Midale.
