Estevan Bruins pull away from Hounds to win Game 3

The Estevan Bruins have a 2-1 series lead with the Notre Dame Hounds.

WILCOX - The Estevan Bruins defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 6-1 on Tuesday night in Wilcox to take a 2-1 series lead in the best of seven SJHL quarter-final.

Kade Runke set the tone early with a goal 91 seconds into the first period. It remained a 1-0 game until the 15:52 mark of the opening frame, when Eric Pearce scored for Estevan, but former Bruin Nikolas Sombrowski scored 16 seconds later to pull the Hounds to within one.

Pearce scored his second of the game with 7:02 to play in the second for a 3-1 lead.

The Bruins took over in the third period. Mitch Kohner scored 89 seconds into the frame for a 4-1 lead. Olivier Pouliot's power-play goal just over eight minutes later pushed the lead to 5-1, and Caelan Fitzpatrick scored while short-handed approximately two minutes later to finish the scoring.

Estevan outshot the Hounds 40-19, including 15-4 in the third period. 

Boston Bilous made 18 saves for the Bruins, while Austin Elliott had 34 saves for Notre Dame.

Game 4 will be Thursday night in Wilcox, starting at 7:30 p.m.
